BUILDING FUND
In 1996 our Finance Council interviewed Fundraising firms and recommended moving forward in raising funds to improve our facilities. The tornado of 1998 changed the focus of the way in which these funds would be used when our church and parish center were destroyed and the school was extensively damaged. The decision was made to build a new complex at a new site.
Over 49% of our parishioners made 3 year pledges. Many paid off their original pledge and have renewed their pledge on a yearly basis. Others have made yearly or one time donations to the fund. Other sources of income to pay for our new facility were:
  • the receipt of insurance money
  • interest from investing these funds
  • donations from individuals and parishes around the country
  • grants, gifts of stock and grain, annuities, bequests
  • memorials in memory of deceased friends and family
  • sale of our old campus
  • bank loans
  • sale of 20 acres of land to a developer
We have reduced our long term debt (SBA) to $785,138. Our short term debt at the bank is presently at $69,000. This is remarkable, considering that the total cost of our new building and furnishings was over $10,800,000. Donations are still very much needed to pay the SBA loan and establish a maintenance fund for the future needs in the building and around the grounds. You may make a donation to the Church of St. Peter marking your envelope Building Fund or including the Church of St. Peter in your estate planning.
