OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) Bulletin for the week of April 25, 2010
Fr. Phil Schotzko
From The Pastor:
WHAT IS IN A NAME??? Sometimes in Scripture, a key person’s name changes when their role changes or when they are touched by God in a special way. For example, “Abram” became “Abraham”, “Simon” became “Peter” and “Saul” became “Paul”. Something from the past was transformed or redirected as God’s plan propelled them into a blessed future. I was reminded of this when we received a letter from the Bishop regarding the acceptance of the proposed name for our Area Faith Community. I include the Bishop’s letter below. May it mark the shift of awareness of how God is blessing and calling us to build community together within and between the parishes that make up our Area Faith Community.Father Phil Schotzko
“Dear Fr. Schotzko, Fr. Ardolf, and Area Pastoral Council Members,
Thank you for your letter of January 14, 2010, resubmitting the name “Apostles Peter and Paul” for the area faith community of the Churches of St. Paul in Nicollet and St. Peter in St. Peter. Your reasons for desiring this name for your area faith community are well grounded and well reasoned. I can tell that you have given it much thought, discussion, and prayer.
“I am now convinced that the name of your area faith community should be the Apostles Peter and Paul Area Faith Community. So, I am making an exception to the guidelines of the Diocese of New Ulm and granting your request.
“Please know of my gratitude for all of your dedicated efforts. I trust that the new name will strengthen these efforts as you build up this new communal identity.
“Thank you so much for your patience. May God bless you and may you move forward in faith!”
In Christ,
The Most Reverend John M. LeVoir

Our biggest event of the year took place last Sunday, when our second grade students received Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion. It’s the one time when they actually look “angelic.” Now, they are all on course again to being regular, second grade human beings. I guess that’s how it should be. But, the Mass was perfect and the children wonderful…the moms, dads, and family members, too.
Coming up soon is our celebration of Grandparents’ Day and our Spring Program.
We are ready for our special guests, and others who wish to come to the celebration on Friday, May 7 at 1 PM. If you wish to come for lunch, please let us know by May 5 so Deb add more “water to the soup,” as the saying goes. You are certainly most welcome but we it is important that we know ahead of time. And, you do not have to be a grandparent to enjoy the afternoon with us.FYI. The Education Committee meets Monday evening, Ap. 26 at 6:30 PM. The JI Home/School meets on Tuesday evening, Ap. 27 at 6:30 PM. New members are always welcome.
JI Registration for 2010-2011. Preparation for next year has begun. We continue accepting registrations for grades K-6. John Ireland School is a Catholic Community, welcoming students of all faiths, devoted to Gospel Values, and Academic Excellence. Catholic Home Missions Appeal
Right here in the United States, some dioceses are unable to provide fundamental pastoral care for their faithful. These “home mission” dioceses cannot support an adequate number of priests. They cannot afford funding for youth ministry programs or religious education. This week we take up a collection for the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Help strengthen the Church at home with a generous donation.Cemetery News
